Today was a relatively short walking day (13 miles) and my
feet and body were thankful. What an amazing perspective – to think of walking
a half marathon as a SHORT walk! I’ll never think of it the same again. It was
also a fairly easy day of walking, with the exception of one 650 foot hill
climb. It seems we’ve now left most of the vineyards behind and are again walking
through wheat fields with very little shade. We did have an unexpected surprise
this morning – 16 hot air balloons all around us!
This balloon looked like it was going to land on the busy highway
We left Najera a little after 8:00 am and arrived in Santo Domingo by 1:30 pm. Rather than eating lunch en route, we decided to press on
and had some tapas when we got to Santo Domingo. Also had time to do a little sightseeing in town and went to Mass this evening at the Cathedral. All in all, a very nice day.
We now have 25 more stages, 26 more days, and 355 more miles
until we reach Santiago. BUT, we have already covered 133 miles, more than a
quarter of the way to our destination! Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Vaya con Dios.
Buen Camino
